pixellip Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 (edited) Hi there Has anyone come across audio dropping in HDMI.........sorry that sounds vague ...........these problems are a devil to solve. We have various monitors screens here which use HDMI.....but we split the HDMI signal so one goes to a monitor and the other to the big screens (various makes). In Device manager you get 2 sound options - realtek audio and Intel Audio - it's set to Intel . The monitor is not appearing as a sound source. Periodically the sound goes when you are logged into windows -. I am trying to see if there is a pattern here but of course it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It seems when the pc is logged in the sound will suddenly stop randomly and only a reboot will cure it. Does anyone else here us HDMI splitters and have you found any problems like this please? The picture stays on fine when the sound goes............and the Intel Display Audio device doesn't dissappear. The HDMI cables aren't that log for most rooms ( say 5m or less) and are good quality. We have Dell and HP here ( although both Intel chipsets ) so I am wondering if the computer/ drivers could be at fault or the HDMI splitters.. Thanks for your help and advice. pixellip Posted September 29, 2017 Author Posted September 29, 2017 Thanks Michael. The splitters are powered by USB from the computer . We have 30 of them or so here.
Michael Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Do they have the option to be mains powered?
pixellip Posted September 29, 2017 Author Posted September 29, 2017 That is a good point! They use a USB standard connector to standard power connector so yes Michael that would be the next logical thing to do .....thanks
sted Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 id also check what your default sound device is if it shows 2 in device manager its plausible it has 2 in playback devices and is defaulting to the wrong one (you can also right click test devices and it will pay regardless of whether its the default device or not)
pixellip Posted September 29, 2017 Author Posted September 29, 2017 Yes thanks sted. I will delete the other device or disable it just to be sure........ I've got a feeling this problem is not going to be straightforward ( as usual ).
