Staff Survey

Hi Guys,

 

I'm dipping my toe into the shark-infested pool of staff IT surveys. Previously i have asked very general questions, which seems to open the floodgates of moaning and groaning about how "nothing ever works" (but we all know it does and it's most likely that you haven't turned your proxies on) anyway, back to the question....

 

Has anyone got a set of questions that have been successful? I'm looking for broad statements with an "agree,disagree" response. The main reason for the surveys is to find out if staff would prefer a desktop in each classroom but i can't just ask outright because they don't like change and will instantly become defensive and 'Strongly Disagree' with it.

 

Any help would be much appreciated.

No details about questions, but just set up wpad and proxy problems mostly vanish

Last year I used these questions but they are very specific for our school

 

I know how to report IT issues to IT Services?

I know how to request equipment for Assemblies or events?

I know how to connect to Live Viewer and VGA to the projector?

I know how to access my emails via the School website?

I have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office products?

We had the HT do the survey for us and just asked desktop or laptop. The results came back near enough to 50/50 we continued with laptops.

 

You may try asking use case questions like

Do you use your laptop at home?

Do you use your laptop out side of the classroom?

Do you leave your laptop plugged in all the time?

 

change your laptop to better phrasing school owned laptop assigned for your use etc.

These types of questions may lead you to the answer if a Desktop or laptop is the right device.

 

re-reading the OP did you mean desktop for teacher use instead of a laptop, or student devices?

Why do you think a desktop in the classroom would be better? Ask questions to find out if they agree, from their POV

We used to do one a few years back but it's fallen by the wayside due to budget restrictions. The questions we asked were as follows:

• 
  
• Please rate the functionality and use of your existing PC's (1 = Excellent, 5 = Poor)
  
• Please rate the functionality and use of your existing printer(s) (1 = Excellent, 5 = Poor)
  
• Please rate the functionality and use of your existing project / other display equipment (1 = Excellent, 5 = Poor)
  

 

We then had a comment box for each part and a section for if any changes would make a difference what would they be and how would they help.
