Hi all,

We have a strange issue where a newly installed application, Read & Write Gold from Texthelp, is causing long delays when users type any data into text fields. A user might type, for example, "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy fox", and when they look at the screen there is no text. Then in a flash the whole sentence appears.

The odd thing is that merely installing the software caused the issue, users don't actually have to have it running to experience these delays.

We also use Impero, and both it and R&W seem to work by intercepting keystrokes to do pattern matching. Impero for word lists and R&W for spelling.

With just Impero running everything is fine.

Install R&W and we get the slow text issue.

Uninstall R&W and the problem remains.

It's as if R&W adds or changes something in the way that keystrokes are intercepted but even when uninstalled it leaves those changes in place.

There are no errors in event viewer and no on-screen error messages.

Both application's support teams have been helpful but at the moment neither have a solution.

Anyone experienced anything like this before? He said, hopefully...

Edit: spelling.

Hi KevinB,

I'm glad we're already helping you to get to the bottom of this, but having seen your thread and become of aware of problem, I'd like to get a little more involved to see if I can assist in removing any barriers to resolution. I have a pet hate of customers being stuck in the middle of two software / service providers who are doing their best independently but aren't getting to the solution.

I've downloaded a trial of Read and Write so that we can try to replicate this here, and I've made initial contact with Texthelp to coordinate some testing and see if we can get to a solution, or at least better understand the problem.

Please could you PM me your contact details so that i can find your specific case here, and keep both you and the case notes up to date; then when we've got some more info we can post back here in case it helps others.

If anyone else has a silver bullet in the mean time please feel free to share!

Thanks

Mic @ Impero
