mdrabble Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 I have Veeam installed and running in a single location. After a bit of a re-jig, I now have a server and QNAP NAS box available for a secondary backup location. to hold the latest daily backups and latest monthly backups What is the best method of setting up/using a secondary location in Veeam to hold the only the latest daily backups and latest monthly backups. Cheers
PotNoodleTech Posted September 20, 2017 Posted September 20, 2017 Yes you add the NAS / other server to the Veeam server as a datastore and then you can run backup copy jobs to it at whatever schedule you like. You can set up grandfather/father/son type backups, I go for a yearly, a quarterly, a monthly, and a weekly. 2
mdrabble Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 (edited) So create the 2nd location as a standard SMB Share and then add that share as a Backup Repository on the Veeam Server or do I install Veeam on the 2nd Server and setup the Backup Repository? Once added I assume I can then use Backup Copy to copy only the latest Weekly backup etc. Edited September 20, 2017 by mdrabble
mdrabble Posted September 20, 2017 Author Posted September 20, 2017 Ah... sorted :-) added the to Second Server to the Backup Infrastructure as a Windows Server and then Created a new Backup Repository as Windows Server and selected the Secondary location. Just need to sort the Backup Cop jobs now
