Gongalong Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Hi folks, We have an issue with the Intel DH61WW motherboard, with Windows 10 (currently build 1703). We have around 100 PCs with this motherboard. Randomly, when the PC is turned on the Intel 82579LM network connection shows with the error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10) {Operation Failed} The requested operation was unsuccessful." We have updated to the latest Intel network driver (25 July 2016, version 12.15.31.4). The motherboard has the latest BIOS, 0120. The solution is simple, to turn the PC off and back on, but it can take two or three attempts, and inevitably is frustrating. Has anyone encountered this problem, and have a fix? Thanks
mrwoberts Posted September 14, 2017 Posted September 14, 2017 Spotting a trend in other posts regarding this type of behaviour - networking failure following a startup. Disable 'Fast Startup' from the Power Options control panel. It means shutdown and startup may take longer, but if it resolves the issue for now then all the better. 1
newpersn Posted September 15, 2017 Posted September 15, 2017 I've not had any problems with these boards and we got over 80 of them. We do have fast startup disabled though group policy. 1
Gongalong Posted September 15, 2017 Author Posted September 15, 2017 Thanks both. Presumably this will do it? http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/171184-disable-fast-startup-power-management-option-via-gpo.html
Gongalong Posted September 16, 2017 Author Posted September 16, 2017 Have any of you been able to get Wake on LAN to work now with this board? It was fine with Win 7, but no longer seems to work with Win 10.
mrwoberts Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 I believe WOL also works fine once Fast Startup is disabled. If it doesn't work, take a look at the BIOS settings, or Power Management settings of the NIC... 1
newpersn Posted September 16, 2017 Posted September 16, 2017 I had to use windows 8 drivers for WOL to work. 1
Gongalong Posted September 18, 2017 Author Posted September 18, 2017 WoL is definitely better (this is with latest 2016 driver), but not 100%.
