Sharing a print queue between multiple printers

We have 2 rather large MFD's in our reprographics department that all staff can print to, however the user must use a touchscreen interface on the printer to release the job. We're often finding ourselves in a situation where Staff A prints something to Prt01 and goes down to collect it, only to find Staff B is currently printing something pretty big on Prt01 and it's gonna be a while. So their choices are either wait, or trek back upstairs, re-print the job to Prt02 (leaving one copy just sat there on Prt01 that they invariably don't delete) and then come back down and release it.

 

Is there a way to make both printers share the same print queue so any job can be picked up on either printer?

 

I assume this would either involve automatically spooling the job on both printers, or having a server spool the job and not pass it to a printer until it's been released.

We implemented follow me / secure release here with PaperCut MF. Some rooms / offices have the ability to print directly to a printer in same office directly and without having to release but all staff PCs have our Global-Print queue which is set us a a virtual queue which is then redirected to any of the MFPs scattered about where they can release their job!
