Moodle "Windows Share Access" (smb_web_client)

Hi,

 

After "WannaCry" meant that we our existing instance of smb_web_client would no longer work (the server was running a very old version of smbclient, and couldn't be updated, and the version of the SMB protocol it used had had to be disabled), I've updated to the latest Moodle, on the latest long-term-support version of Moodle, with the latest smb_web_client.

 

While I've got normal shares to work, I'm having problems with accessing the user's home directories, which I could access with previously with our old version, and the old version of the SMB protocol.

 

It returns the message that "No home directory specified in ldap for this user", even though ADSI Edit clearly shows that the standard homeDirectory field has the correct information in it for this user.

 

It's been such a long time since I originally set up the old block, that I can't remember if there was anything special that I had to do to access the appropriate directories. The old block was so old that it had to be configured in the source code, and that the various locations for the home directories (staff, year 7 students, year 8 students etc) had to be specified individually in a list - i.e. it looked like it didn't even look the information up.

 

Does anyone have any insight they might be able to offer me?

in the SMB Block settings change "ActiveDirectory field for HomeDirectory" to be "homedirectory" (this must be lowercase)

 

Attached is a modified version of the SMB Block we use for our customers running Moodle 3.3.1 and PHP 7

Thank you fou sharing the update for Moodle - Windows Share Access".

I have insalled it on Moodle version 3.83+ with PHP 7.2 and it is working fine with general shares.

I am however struggling to set up access to home folders. Please do you have any clues or advice on how how to fill out the Home Directory Share fields. I have tried entering "homedirectory" in the "AD Field for Home Directory" and nothing happens when I press "windows file share"
