Sheridan Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Deploying a newly bought printer (Hp M552) with 1703 using GPP and all I get is "Group Policy Object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070705 The printer driver is unknown" Both x86 and x64 drivers are on the server, so I'm stuck - I can't return the printer just because W10 printing is a shambolic hit and miss affair. Has anyone scripted the install of printer drivers for W10? This is only way I can see around this, as its obviously going to happen more and more.
sted Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 is this just on one pc as that looks similar to messages i get on w7 when the local spooler has thrown a wobbler. deleting the contents of the c:\windows\system32\spool directory and copying in prtprocs from a known working machine then restarting spooler usually works
Boredguy Posted September 11, 2017 Posted September 11, 2017 Checked your Point and Print permissions as we had similar on our Windows 7 stations recently but updating the GPO fixed it
Sheridan Posted September 11, 2017 Author Posted September 11, 2017 Its a whole set of W10 PCs, the only thing that changed is the printer, and therefore the driver. We're finding W10 so unreliable at installing printers that we're going to have to find another way that doesn't use GPOs or GPPs
