Some students have disappearing desktop icons on log in

We have roaming profiles for all users in our school and occasionally, a few users log in to a computer to experience a blank desktop with no icons?

 

Any suggestions on how to fix this issue would be much appreciated!

 

There are no error messages. The issues only plague the user rather than the computer.
