Anyone have some dell Optiplex 790 running windows 10 and have them turning on using WOL?

Can you let me know what BIOS settings and Windows setting you have please as no matter what I try I cannot get them to wake on lan once windows have shutdown.

I have:

  • updated the BIOS is A19
  • Enabled Wake On Lan
  • Disabled Deep Sleep
  • Updated the NIC drives from Intel and made sure Magic Packets enabled

Cheers

Did you enable PXE boot in the BIOS NIC settings?

Did you tick all the power management settings and the 'Enable PMA' option in the advanced properties in the network card settings?

Did you disable hibernate and fast boot?

Are the WoL packets actually getting to the device?

Fastboot! - That the one I need to disable!

I can manually do it via control panel

  • Control Panel.
  • Power Options.
  • Choose what the power buttons do.
  • Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  • Scroll down to Shutdown settings and uncheck Turn on fast startup.
  • Save changes.

How can I do this via GPO?

Ive added the following regit via GPO but still no joy

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power

HiberbootEnabled DWORD

0 = Turn off fast startup

1 = Turn on fast startup
