Hopefully this is the right forum for this. We are looking for webcam software to use on some "welcome center" kiosks. The idea is that have two apps running on the kiosks. A web browser and another that launches some webcam software that will automatically connect to one of our staff in a specific department.

We use Skype for Business, but the UI is too busy and it would take several clicks to connect. Management wants "one touch" easy.

If anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them!

Could you make a page of click to call links to the people that may need to be connected to? You would only need that page up and then Skype would be launched as needed.

I am going to push for exactly that. My only concern is that I won't be able to use any kiosk configuration on the PCs as they will need to launch more than a single app (browser and skype vs just the browser). It might be the best we can do however. Thank you for your suggestion. I will look into the Skype Web SDK and see if our web team can make that work.

VLC Media Player?

^ In the example above they use an AVI file for the network stream source, but if you click the 'Capture Device' tab you should be able to select a DirectShow webcam instead.

To make it one touch you can add the relevant parameters to the VLC shortcuts so all they have to do is double-click them. :)

Looking at Yawcam, it appears as though it isn't designed for two-way video chat or am I missing something?

I think the confusion is you asked for webcam software and Yawcam is exactly that. What you're actually after is Video Conferencing software which is what the likes of Skype is.

If you have people at your end who can develope solutions for you, then have them make something that works directly in the browser using the GetUserMedia API. It's not available on Apple devices, but should be available on pretty much any other up-to-date browser. You'll need hardware with some kind of camera embedded or attached - an Android or ChromeOS tablet / laptop might be okay, or an all-in-one desktop PC.
