Sinusitis

Currently sat in the EduGeek office with half my face swollen up due to quite a nasty bout of sinusitis. It's very, very uncomfortable.

I've a doctors appointment at 3pm and will most likely be given antibiotics to clear it up.

I've been suffering from bad sinuses for quite a while now and think I shall need to get them flushed out.

I know it's a minor op but of any here has had it done could you please let me know what it involved and did it sort you out?

Someone I work with had the op where they strip out the lining of the sinuses. It hasn't stopped her getting infections but it has slightly improved things.

 

I get Sinusitis quite a lot - I once begged a DENTIST to help me before I found out what the actual problem was. I WILLINGLY went to a DENTIST. The pain was monumental. I have immense sympathy for you.

 

You could try the old 'Neti pot' irrigation thing?

 

Might also be worth pushing the docs to give you a stronger antibiotic - most of the time they will palm you off with Penicillin or Erythromycin, but there are better ones - I can't take either of those so my docs have to be inventive. I've had various tetracyclines, Septrin, and the real big guns: Metronidazol. My dentist prescribed the last one - apparently it's good for respiratory tract and bone-related things. It is a bit brutal though.

I suffer badly with it too. If I work in an air-conditioned office my nose bleeds from one nostril.

 

I really recommend the Neilmed range on Amazon. It's works brilliantly. This starter pack is well worth the money.

I'm now on antibiotics and have an appointment with the ENT clinic in the pipeline.

This is a BIG infection and a simple saline rinse isn't going to sort it out.

I too went to the dentist a year or so back trying to find out what was causing the toothache I had and after many x-rays and tests he drew a blank.

The doctor diagnosed it and got me on a course on antibiotics which sorted it out. As it reoccurs so often I need the 'full' treatment now.
