Deleting Junk Files from Home Folders

I'm trying to do a final backup of our data to an external hard drive before I decommission the old server. However, I've found that the user's home folders are filled with loads of junk temp files created by Microsoft Word. I've tried to do a search for "~$" but the search won't find the files at all, even though there are 1000s of them.

 

Any ideas on how I can delete the files en mass?
