GuyJD Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 is anyone else getting really excited about this? I've listened to the Audio book 3 times since Christmas, It does look like the film will be more of a retelling of the book than following it but I'm still really looking forward to it
Dos_Box Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Has anyone seen this yet? I see it's had very positive reviews, but would rather get your opinions before I cough up my hard earned.
MrMat Posted April 3, 2018 Posted April 3, 2018 Saw it last night and really enjoyed it but it's not perfect. Even the Mrs enjoyed it though and I wasn't too sure if she'd be a fan (thought it'd be bit too geeky etc). I've read the book (which i thoroughly enjoyed as well). It deviates from the book a fair bit but all the important elements remain. The visuals are stunning and the world inside the Oasis (the VR world) is awesomely realised although the characters are a little jarring at first (big eyes!). There's lots of pop culture references as you'd expect. Some of them are tiny but really cool to see. Quite fun looking out for all these movie/video game characters in the backgrounds etc. Oh and a brilliant homage to 'The Shining'. The story and pacing aren't without fault but overall, I think it's definitely worth a watch! 1
