Search AD by specific field

I know it's possible to search AD for a user based on their username. I would ideally like to find a tool (or means) of searching AD via a different field - specifically, the pager field. This field holds our student ID card numbers, and it would be handy to be able to scan the card and pull up the relevant user account within AD.

 

Any suggestions appreciated! :-)

"Pull up the relevant account" suggests you are in an application and want to pull up the data in some particular context (say to change their password or do some other manipulations). So :

 

1. Use the Find facility, Advanced Tab and select the pager field from the list, 'scan' your ID into the value field.

2. Use powershell to pop up a dialogue you can scan the ID into and will then do the search and display some info (but you can't then do a lot with it interactively).
