Gongalong Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Hi folks, In the midst of deploying 1703 Education with Config Manager. I've noticed that Sync Center (green icon) is appearing in the notification area. Yet on another laptop I have with 1703 there's no mention of Sync Center there. Anyone know what's causing this to appear? Could it be a group policy setting? Thanks
Chuckster Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 To disable it you need to go to go to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\SecurityHealthService. Create a Reg_Dword and call it Start. Put a value of 4. YOu can apply it as a GPP 1
snagrat Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 Or set GPO to disable offline files rather than playing in the registry 1
Gongalong Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 I did wonder if GPO would do it. I spotted some items under Administrative Templates > Network for Offline Files.
sted Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 its also worth disabling computer config\admin templates\offline files\subfolders always available offline on windows 7 and above ive found 1
Arthur Posted July 7, 2017 Posted July 7, 2017 its also worth disabling computer config\admin templates\offline files\subfolders always available offline on windows 7 and above ive found You missed a bit... Computer Config \ Admin Templates \ Network \ Offline Files \ Subfolders always available offline 1
Gongalong Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 "Allow or Disallow use of the Offline Files feature" might sit above this, but there are several GPO settings that control various aspects of it. Just about to enable some of these, will see what happens to Sync Center...
Gongalong Posted July 10, 2017 Author Posted July 10, 2017 Sync Center's gone following application of one or more of the settings. Along with the above setting I also did: Prevent use of Offline Folders = Enabled Remove "Make Available Offline" command = Enabled Subolders always available offline = Disabled
