FN-GM Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 To install a server without any mailboxes but with all your config (this is stored in AD) run this installer switch Setup /m:RecoverServer Once you have done that you can recover the databases. 1

SHimmer45 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 if its server 2012 onwards you need to specify an installation source (little button or box at the bottom of the wizard screen) for .net 3.5 if you point it at the winsxs folder on your installation source it will complete.

No Server 2008 r2 (same as the one we lost... )
SHimmer45 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 2008r2 its installed/removed from the Roles&Features wizard
newpersn Posted June 26, 2017 Author Posted June 26, 2017 Dosnt give an error. Just wants to rollback and reboot.... I'm making it do windows updates currently to see if it will improve things..
SHimmer45 Posted June 26, 2017 Posted June 26, 2017 hmmm id be tempted to flatten it and then install .net before doing windows updates, if there is something iffy about the install you dont want that coming back when its your email server.
newpersn Posted June 26, 2017 Author Posted June 26, 2017 I flattened it and restarted and install NET 3.5 first... Now i get this: [06/26/2017 17:28:11.0983] [1] [REQUIRED] Unable to read data from the Metabase. Ensure that Microsoft Internet Information Services is installed. newpersn Posted June 26, 2017 Author Posted June 26, 2017 Do I need to have exchange installed before doing setup.com /m:recoverserver?
SHimmer45 Posted June 27, 2017 Posted June 27, 2017 looks like .net 3.5 needs IIS installed as it part of the package
