Hi

We been hit with a virus over the weekend and its hit us quite bad.

They took our exchange box out along with the databases.

We have a Windows Backup of the OS/Files etc.. before we was hit (Friday)

I have restored all files and folder to a clean server on same (ish) hardware

How do i repair or reinstall exchange?

To install a server without any mailboxes but with all your config (this is stored in AD) run this installer switch

Setup /m:RecoverServer

Once you have done that you can recover the databases.

if its server 2012 onwards you need to specify an installation source (little button or box at the bottom of the wizard screen) for .net 3.5 if you point it at the winsxs folder on your installation source it will complete.

hmmm id be tempted to flatten it and then install .net before doing windows updates, if there is something iffy about the install you dont want that coming back when its your email server.

I flattened it and restarted and install NET 3.5 first...
