Office 365 Publishing shared calendar to iDevices

Hopefully I've put this in the correct part of the forum.

 

Rolling out 365 in an infant school and I have set up a shared calendar using a security group

(basically followed the information here - https://support.microsoft.com/en-ph/help/10157/sharing-calendar-and-contacts-in-office-365)

 

this is working okay for Outlook 2010/2013 users and for web access users.

 

I've searched through the threads here and elsewher before posting but I can't find a way to share a 'live view' to iphone users.

 

The ics file I am able to generate seems to be the activities from the calendar at the point it was generated, rather then a live, subscribe link.

 

One thread suggested adding accounts as the sahred mailbox to the phone, but i can't get that to work as its asking for a password and the mailbox was set up under the security group.

 

I feel I'm missing a simple trick but it looks like a complex trick at the moment!

I think you may have to do this via a shared Mailbox..... iOS and Office 365 groups calendars are a bit unreliable in my experience.

I've found one way of doing it by puting the OWA app on the phone, then logging it in as the user, then adding the shared calendar, then unselecting everything to do with the original account. So OWA is "you click on this for the school calendar" .. "click on the other things for your school email".

It synchs okay with school shared calendar but not the fastest.

I'm pretty sure there are better ways, but this seems to be okay to start.

Yes, someone did suggest that the OWA app for O365 group calendars does work. Unfortunately, for some users having to use the app was "unacceptable!"

Yep, its a pretty poor app - currently wilting on the vine methinks - but it helps us get over a fairly immediate problem. the outlook app was updated recently to include shared calendars from Exchange. Love the way microsoft takes various steps in various directions.
