Can I set Home Folders through Group Policy

Is it possible to set home folders through Group Policy. I know I can do it for all users on a computer but not sure how to set it when students and staff have different locations for their home folders.

Yes you can, Set up 2 GPO's 1 Students Home and 1 Staff Home,

 

User Configuration-> Policies-> Windows Settings->Folder Redirection

in the Path you would put

USERS Students Folder Redirection \\serverXYZ\Data\Students\Intake2017\%username%\MyDocuments

 

USERS Staff Folder Redirection \\serverXYZ\Data\Staff\%username%\MyDocuments

 

Create 2 Groups Staff and Students

Add Students to Students and Staff to Staff groups

 

Use the Security Filtering to apply the settings to the following groups...

Test

Or set the home folder in AD and then just set GPO to follow that.

 

That way doesn't matter if it changes in the future, you just change AD and the next login it changes
