e4e Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 Morning all I am after some advice and suggestions on how to proceed with this idea. I have been told that we need to log all internet traffic to a specific user and log safeguarding reports each week. This has been easy with our Windows network as Smoothwall does all this for us at the click of a report. But our iPads all go through a PAC file, which is on port 800, and all I get back is the IP address of the iPad. Obviously they are not authenticating with the smoothwall box. But they are getting the highest level of filtering on the network. I have tried changing the port in the pac file to port 8080 which is our authentication port which it logs the user at that point, but it does not release the user so a second pupil can pick the ipad up and use it and all website requests would be logged as the first pupil. I am just wondering how other schools have got around requests like this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
FN-GM Posted May 18, 2017 Posted May 18, 2017 We use the Smoothwall SSL login for iPads. Works pretty well.
