Microsoft Updates - Windows 7 Clients

Why is it so hard to get this working? I started it on 10 machines and only 2 of them started downloading and installing the updates...

 

Identical laptops, identical image and build - why don't the others work?...

 

Frustrated as having to do manual patching by disabling Windows Update services on each laptop...

How many updates do they need to do. For clients way behind, it is sometime necessary to tweak IIS to allow it to build the lists.

ashamed to say - quite a few... as have always struggled with them and then get diverted to other jobs during the holidays :-/....

how would you tweak IIS? just find it frustrating that it worked for 2 of them and not the others..

Also you could jump start the update process on clients by downloading and installing the following in order (make sure you pick the right architecture) onto each machine via a USB:
