I'm looking at replacing some colour printers around the school to mono printers.

What is the best printer to look at? Mono, double sided and low price per page?

You will need to have a idea about how much printing your printers will do. If the volume of print is large enough, then a "Multi Function Device" (photocopier) gives the cheapest cost per page 1/10 that of a small desktop printer.

Our printers are set to default to black and white, and duplex, if required colour and / or single sided have to be explicitly specified by the user, at time of printing.

The printer / photocopier / scanner outside of my office is a Ricoh mp c5503, this device is used by our pupils.

Only printers. Dont need MFD's. Got enough round the school.

The question is, what are you thinking of as low cost? One of our schools has a Lexmark mono printer and pay 0.28p per sheet for it. Our new Ricoh C307 machines, we pay 0.29p per sheet for mono.

The C307's were specced to do 25k prints per year.

Also, the question is - are you wanting to buy or lease?

Just to buy. We got enough mfd on lease.

Lowest cost per page. Was looking at Lexmark on printer land.
