Dragon Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Has anyone got a download of the latest version of verion 1? I updated to version 2 and I find it awful, mostly getting apps on the ipads etc.
Joanne Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 are you using VPP? Without VPP it can be a pain in the neck, but with it, it is easy peasy once you have your blueprints all set up.
Dragon Posted April 21, 2017 Author Posted April 21, 2017 I have a vpp account which I have bought my redemption codes and managed distribution set up with meraki. When I sign in with that account on Apple Configurator 2 it says that by doing so disables any other servers using this account and all existing users and their assignments will be removed. Now I am assuming that means it kills Meraki...
Joanne Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 I use Lightspeed just fine with AC2. If you have Meraki, just use AC to configure WiFi, attach to MDM and supervise, then deploy apps with Meraki.
Dragon Posted April 21, 2017 Author Posted April 21, 2017 Are you signed in on AC2 using the account you purchase your VPPs apps with? We give ipads to staff, I assign licences with Meraki. Where as class sets I was using AC and the redemption codes. Seems AC2 has changed this but I don't want to sign in to AC2 with my VPP account for it to screw up Meraki and the already assigned apps.
Joanne Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 Yes, I personally distribute apps via AC2 and use Lightspeed for restrictions. AC2 uses managed distribution though... not the codes. I had to get apple to convert them for me when I changed over.
Dragon Posted April 21, 2017 Author Posted April 21, 2017 Do you distribute apps licences using lightspeed so that you don't have to get them back in each time you want to install an app?
AlanD Posted April 21, 2017 Posted April 21, 2017 I think configurator 2 - even in its latest incarnation - is one of the buggiest pieces of software I've used. If you start from a completely blank set of ipads - fine - but if you have a random selection with different versions of different apps installed - and you need to update them...well welcome to world of chaos - not to mention crashes and error messages. You will soon decide its worth using an MDM for subsequent maintenance - even if you have to pay it.
Dragon Posted April 25, 2017 Author Posted April 25, 2017 I agree! I am just trying to find a decent MDM solution!
