talksr Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Hi, really confused by what is causing this issue.. We are running server 2016 as our DC with Google Chrome set as default. Users do have access to Edge browser via a taskbar shortcut. Some users, when clicking on any browser, get nothing opening up, and the only way to rectify this issue is to log them off, delete their roaming profile and then re-create. This issue seems to be random and goes away for a period of time once a profile is re-created. Has anyone else had this issue and found a workaround? Loss of internet is not the end of the world, but for this school, their MIS is completely web based so it causes real disruption if they have to wait for me to come and get them to log off so I can re-create their profile.
Chuckster Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 Google Chrome only runs a single instance per Roaming Profile, i.e. if you're logged on 2 different workstations, and workstation A has Chrome already open, then Chrome will not work on workstation 2. The above, however, does not apply to IE. Could this be your problem? 1

As this is a primary school, that could make things quite tricky as for the earlier years, they tend to have one log on: year1, year 2 for all pupils to use. So this profile could be logged in simultaneously maybe 30 times. I wonder if there is any workaround for this?

I thought Chrome runs multiple times in a roaming profile environment providing app data isn't redirected, however favourites etc aren't saved between uses. If you use redirected app data you can only launch one instance, at least that's how it seems to be working for us. I think there's a bug in the creators update as I have several local users on my pc with the same issue. Trash a profile and everything starts working again 1

There has got to be a way of stopping this as it is putting some classes out of action for quite some time. Particularly for users who don't take all that much care of their profiles.
