ITGURU Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Has anyone else noticed since upgrading to Windows 10 that network shares are slower loading in Explorer? On opening drives and folders within in, i get a short pause of ...still working on it... for each click action of opening a folder etc. Windows 7 clients as normal instant access.
Chuckster Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Yes, this is a common occurance for us since we made the move to Windows 10. Sometimes it will freeze explorer and therefore you're forced to open task manager and restart explorer.exe. Funnily enough, it will speed things up considerably and then the problem resurfaces again.
Arthur Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 What version of Windows is the server that has the shares running?
victory2015 Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 i know its not what you want to hear but it should solve the issue, disable search indexing on the server the problem "should" go away
Chuckster Posted April 17, 2017 Posted April 17, 2017 @victory2015, is that disabling the search index on the workstations or on the file server? All my workstations are Windows 10 whilst file servers are 2012 R2.
