Stuajnht Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 Hi all, One of our users has been having a problem opening Outlook 2010 on any computer (on either their account or a new profile (user or Outlook)). It gives the following error message: Cannot open your default e-mail folders. There is not enough memory available to perform the operation. Using the MFCMAPI tool it also responds with a code of: MAPI_E_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY == 0x8007000E The computer has 8GB of RAM installed and is only using ~2GB, and it does not spike when Outlook opens. Following the MS KB articles (https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/2329201, https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2968387) does not resolve the problem (registry changes made; Download Public Folder Favorites is unticked by default; they have a small number of folders). Outlook does not start either if "cached exchange mode" is unticked. They can use OWA without any problems, but is a hindrance as they can't email directly from other Office software. I appreciate it's Easter half-term so most of you will (should) be on your holidays, but thanks for any assistance in advance.
FN-GM Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I would dump the mail profile and create a new one. Should sort it out.
Stuajnht Posted April 10, 2017 Author Posted April 10, 2017 I would dump the mail profile and create a new one. Should sort it out. Hi, Do you mean from the "Show profiles" section in "Mail" in control panel, or from Exchange? If it's the control panel one I've deleted it and created it again, but the problem still happens (tried making a new profile from the users logon account and a brand new logon account).
FN-GM Posted April 10, 2017 Posted April 10, 2017 I meant the one you have already done. Im afraid im out of ideas!
Stuajnht Posted April 11, 2017 Author Posted April 11, 2017 Thanks @FN-GM for your help anyway. I've had a chance to try with Outlook 2016 today, and it seems to be having the same problem, but the message is modified slightly: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. There is not enough memory available to perform the operation. There is a MS KB article for this (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/3046189) which explains the problem as: This problem occurs because the hidden PR_OST_OSTID property in your mailbox is larger than 32 kilobyes (KB) However, using the MFCMAPI tool as advised doesn't work as it's still coming up with the same error: MAPI_E_NOT_ENOUGH_MEMORY == 0x8007000E Does anyone know of another way to modify these settings to see if it will work? --- After many different searches, it seems like this issue has appeared here before (http://www.edugeek.net/forums/office-software/150054-cannot-open-your-default-e-mail-folders.html), but there's not a solution shown. @comps - if you're still around, did you ever manage to get anywhere with this?
Stuajnht Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 Hi all, Since we're all back from our Easter holidays, just bumping this to see if anyone else has come across this problem? Thanks in advance
