Hi,

I've got a laptop that's doing weird stuff, I've seen it on some other Lenovo laptops but managed to fix it but uninstalling the battery from the device manager and letting it reinstall it.

The laptop will only run on the battery and discharge it when the power is plugged in, if I remove the battery the laptop runs on the power... it doesn't charge the battery or show up at all.

Weirdly I've been messing with it all week and after the battery had discharged I came in the next day and there was some charge in it.

Anyone seen this? I've reinstalled W8, W10.. all the drivers... removed them.

Sometimes vendors like Lenovo, Dell and HP have particular utilities, that came pre-installed on the laptop, that essentially provide the logic hook into the OS to know how to treat the battery under certain conditions. Might be worth checking the Lenovo drivers/utilities section for that laptop to see if such an app exists. If it does, install it, along with any related download, possibly even the chipset drivers as there maybe some customisation Lenovo have made.

Also worth checking the BIOS/UEFI to see what options you have regarding power/battery.
