Soon Google Maps users worldwide will be able to answer those questions in just a few taps, without ever leaving the app. On both Android and iOS, you’ll be able to share your real-time location with anyone. And the people you share with will be able to see your location on Android, iPhone, mobile web, and even desktop. Here’s how it works in a real-world scenario:

This is a feature Google Hangouts has had something similar for a considerably long time, I remember it back when I played Ingress. Simply sending the message containing "Where?" (so could just be "Where?", "Where are you?" etc) would display a button to the recipient labelled "Share your location". It automatically sent a Maps link with a pin at your GPS location. Handy feature. Didn't move with you, though, was static. Pretty useful feature to have real-time, and it's good to see you can choose who can see you and for how long.
