Is anyone else on here having an issues with iOS misreporting battery charge?

Since updating my iPhone 6 to iOS 10.2 it seems to stick at 100% all day and if I've been using it a lot throughout the day it will shut down and say it's out of power. Even if I notice it and reboot the phone myself it still doesn't pick up the correct battery level, so I'm stuck with a phone that won't tell me when it's going to die, it doesn't do it every time it's at 100% but I'd say it's around 50% of the time.

I'm not seeing this issue on any of our school iPads so I'm guessing it's limited to the phone OS and as per usual Apple are denying there is a problem.

Husband had iPhone 6 battery issue where it would suddenly shut off and not come on unless you plugged it in. When plugged in it would be like 80%. He got sick of it and traded it in to get an iPhone 7. He got £130 for the 6 at carphone warehouse.

I really wanted to hold out for the iPhone 8 coming out before upgrading again but if I can't rely on it any more then I may have to swap it for a 7 early.

My 2 oldest boys have iPhone 5s' and they both shut down with over 50% battery left, I was going to get new batteries for them off of ebay but I'm worried about cheap batteries exploding after the issues Samsung have had.

The battery in this one was a genuine apple replacement, so we were convinced that it was software related. Spoken to a few others with this issue too. Was I speaking to you on twitter about it this morning?

The charging IC on the board can become faulty. Mainly caused by voltage fluctuations from car chargers or non genuine chargers.

There was also a 10.2.1 update that was released that sorted some charging issues, my daughter's 6 would turn off if the battery got lowish before she updated.

I've done every update since hoping it might sort it out but it's still the same.

My wife's iPhone 5S turns off at 40-50%. Been told need a new battery by Apple. I think its a IOS update issue that apple don't want to resolve.

Try a new battery first. I use replacebase.co.uk about a tenner. I've never had any problems with items bought from them.

Getting the charging IC changed would be about £40.

I think the same, this didn't happen until iOS 10.2 on any of our phones, the most Apple have said is it's to do with new code implemented to stop batteries overheating in the wake of the Samsung problems.

I've got an iPhone 5s (hand me down from the wife...).

The battery used to last all day and still be at 70-80%, admittedly I don't use it much.

Since the 10.2 update (now on 10.2.1), it can now be as low as 20-30% when I get home and when it hits 10% it just shuts down (that could be just battery life related though).

Not that I would suggest that any large technical corporation are injecting code into their updates to stop things working properly and therefore force people into upgrading their hardware or OS... But it makes me wonder sometimes... To be honest Apple would just stop supporting something when they feel like they need a new cash injection... :peep: :getmecoat:
