Activate Windows 2016 KMS

I have the KMS key labelled Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS for Windows 10 that allows all Windows Desktop and Servers bar 2016 to successfully activate.

 

I have now installed a 2016 box which fails to authenticate.

 

What key do I require to activate a Windows Server 2016 against the KMS host server that is 2012 R2?

i dont think you can i think you need to move your kms to a 2016 server or use a mak key

I've got the updates already installed, so what do I do after? The blog hasn't made it at all clear for me.

 

Do I install the KMS client keys from here - https://technet.microsoft.com/library/jj612867.aspx ? I tried the Server 2016 Standard but that error'd.

You need the KMS host key for Windows Srv 2016 DataCtr/Std KMS from VLSC.

 

To install the new host key from an elevated Command Prompt...

 

slmgr.vbs /ipk ABCDE-FGHIJ-KLMNO-PQRST-UVWXY
slmgr.vbs /ato

Would the Windows Srv 2016 DataCtr/Std KMS key activate all the other OSes, i.e. Windows <10 and Server <2016?

 

Currently the Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS key is doing this job.

Yes it does. I have just installed the Windows Srv 2016 DataCtr/Std KMS key last week and the Windows 10 PCs that I am testing my image on are now activating at restore.
