binky Posted February 29, 2008 Posted February 29, 2008 Ok, My HP laptop died today, so I am getting a brand new one from John Lewis (as this is a personal laptop), however I have a Wireless-G network at home and the replacement I am thinking of (http://www.johnlewis.com/230445983/Product.aspx) has Pre-N is pre-n compatible with Wireless G?
StewartKnight Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 the issue I have with pre-N is that N hasn't been ratified. Its' all about the gimic, why buy a wireless device that may not be compatible with the full N spec!! They should advertise the N spec as an after thought, not as the main selling point. Bring back 5.4......... I love that A spec!

Any changes to the final standard can be applied to draft-n devices via straightforward firmware upgrade. So draft-n gear should be a safe bet.
