SWGFL Block VPN's on BYOD

Morning all,

 

As the title,

 

Some of our sixthformers are using VPN's on their phones which are on the BYOD, how can we stop them using VPN's?

What is your filtering solution? Usually there is a category, such as proxy/anonymisers...

Alternatively, you could block the IP they are connecting to - assuming it isn't constantly changing...

 

The other thing I'm thinking is if you can pin-point the student(s) responsible, are they in breach of the Acceptable Use Policy ? If so, what are your documented consequences for such actions?

Not sure if you're using a Smoothwall or not.. You can do this via Layer 7 filtering (Network > Outgoing) and create policies to stop the traffic from getting out. This does require additional licensing from the base license.
