Projector freeze command disconnects from laptop when you unfreeze!

On Windows 10 with Anniversary edition and Office 2016 when a user freezes the image on a projector (usually powerpoint) then unfreezes it disconnects from the laptop so they have to unplug the cable then plug it back in. It happens on various laptops and projectors, we have also tried various display drivers?
