Is it reliable?

Have you managed to stop using traditional homedrives?

Does it work with Office 2016 as a pose to the built in Onedrive for Business support?

Did you have to relax any GPOs to make it work?

Does it work with all the high quality education software out there?

Have any users lost any work?

Is it just a script?

Reliable - Yes

Replaced homedrives - Yes

Office 2016 - Yes

GPOs - No but needed to create new ones to add some websites to IE settings

Software - Yes, its just a network drive

Work - Nope none lost

Script - No it's an application that runs at startup.

I saw them at Bett and watching the demo video now. Looking into see how and if possible to make use of the 5TB Microsoft now give us for storage. Not sure on the pricing and how easy it is to add office and one drive and share point for site shares on it instead of local shares.

To add Sharepoint sites you just let them though and they create a rule their end so the client maps the drive. Very simple

Thanks just seen that as the min price and not sure if that include drive mapper. Sending them a message for more info. As if can use the Microsoft storage and has file back up and restore features we can then save money on our DR.

So can't use shadow copy then lol. I am new to office 365 and just using it on LGFL at the moment to see if we can use there 365 or if i have to get 365 added to ESS and then not sure how to set up. Trying to research and get my head round it.

The file can be restored but you need to login to the web interface to restore it.

 

Plus you would really need to be federated with IAMCloud to use CDM successfully. I doubt you could federate if you are using it through LGFL

@snagrat do you have SSDs or HDDs on your clients? It's rather disconcerting to see the C: drive fill up when you add things to the cloud. I know its only temporary, but I can forsee it being an issue if users manage to upload 30GB plus per session...

We use IAMCloud here. Ideal for the SSO without us having to manage any servers

Use OneDrive/Sharepoint for storage except for video editing we do and so have local server storage for that.

 

Still have a DC, print server etc. Got about 10 servers here still. We are large primary with 600 users and 600 devices

Cheers for your info have asked them to contact me. DId you find them helpful and did they help with the set up? with iamcloud and onedrive/sharepoint

 

Are you slowly getting rid of the local servers then? Thanks we are 4 form but you have more devices than use. Do you get iamclud to sync with your local DC?

To federate they need to sync with the local AD. That is how you get the Single Sign On.

 

They do the majority of setup but it's down to you to sort the users out correctly in AD as at the end of the day they just sync what is present

Thanks, Thats what i wanted as our AD and AD groups are good and would like to keep that set up as will be easier when setting up the permission. Spent ages sorting AD and AD groups out and ntfs permissions
