Bev Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 I am trying to get Apple Classroom to work. I've got it all set up in School manager and Lightspeed and the iPads show up but all appear offline. I have had the odd one flicker on and then disappear again. I've just tried putting the teacher iPad and a pupil iPad online via my phone rather than the school internet and it worked immediately, which makes me think it's the firewall? Any ideas what I need to open to get it to work ?
Blue_Cookeh Posted January 25, 2017 Posted January 25, 2017 Does your firewall not have some kind of live logging feature? You should load up whatever logs you can and look for any blocked requests coming from your iPads.
mossy214 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Hi Bev Before you throw a lot of time at firewall issues I would give Lightspeed a call. I spoke to Lightspeed Customers services on Friday last week following our purchase of 23 Lightspeed MDM licenses at the end of November last year. We specified with the reseller that our prime aim was to work with Apple Classroom./Shared iPad. If you visit Education - IT & Deployment - Apple (UK) and slide down to the Choosing your MDM you will notice that Lightspeed are not on the list ! During the last 8 weeks, Lightspeed have made no progress with their MDM solution working with our new iPad Air 2 devices and Apple Classroom. They've had plenty of time to respond but essentially there is MDM software that is already out there and working with Apple Classroom. You can check that out on YouTube. I'm giving Lightspeed until the end of today to resolve the issues or we will be looking at one of the proven MDM providers listed by Apple Edu. I'll keep you posted on which MDM we decide to work with next but if you make any progress with Lightspeed let me know. Good luck. Edited January 27, 2017 by mossy214
Bev Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 To be fair to Lightspeed, when I used my phone as a hotspot Apple Classroom was working fine so I do think it works.
