Recommend: small switch capable of vlan managemnt

Following on from something that Geoff (I think it was Geoff) explained regarding VM guest OS machines I'm trying to get recommendations for a small switch that will work with virtual NICs or LAN ports and can be managed to redirect traffic accordingly.

 

This is for home experimentation and working and the idea is to put it on the orange port of my smoothie box and redirect traffic accordingly but the VM machine is on a server that, in the main I need to keep safe hence this request.
