Does anyone have a 10base2 to 10base t converter?

Hello,

 

Big ask I know they are rare and probably command ridiculous prices on lolbay, but does anyone have a 10base2 to 10base t converter lying in a box somewhere which they've kept for a rainy day, but not longer need?

 

I've picked up a cheap NIC for an ARM250 Acorn, but it's 10base-2 only.

Would one of these work? They have both 10Base2 and 10BaseT connectors.

No that's for a RISC PC. I have one of those!

 

I have this mini-podule for my A3010 - but only with the 10base-2 installed.

Can you effectively have a BNC crossover cable without the hub in the middle?

 

This tech is just a bit too old for me. I remember hunting for a bad connection on my schools 10base-2 network of Acorn's circa 1994 with the IT Technician (and they were actual technicians. If a mouse was dead, get the soldering iron out!) when I was 11.

I don't think the tach works like that! 10base2 is a shared bus for Tx and Rx on the same connection with terminators (half-duplex). But 10baseT is point to point with 2 pairs of wire, one for Tx and a separate pair for Rx (full-duplex). I might be wrong, if you force a switch port into half-duplex mode you might able to wire something up on just one pair on the RJ45 to a BNC.

 

You could get powered converters, but they where effectively the same as the hub on eBay with just one port. Can't find anyone selling the signal port converters. As you say this is old 90s tech.
