Tablets and internet authentication

We are investigating the possibility of a set of school owned tablets (probably android based rather than ipads), for use in a set of 2 classrooms.

 

They would be used by a single department, who would want to use the Internet,

 

We are an Office 365 school with a new installation of Smoothwall and a Meru/Fortinet Wii solution

 

What are the best options of managing the devices, in terms of updates and pushing out apps.

 

We would want to track individual users usage on the internet, can users be forced to authenticate to Smoothwall valid their AD credentials every session, with an auto logout after perhaps 5 minutes of inactivity?
