L3OUGH Posted December 15, 2016 Author Posted December 15, 2016 Thinking of replacing the board with an MSI one. Not sure if the ROG stuff would be any better? The ASUS ROG Hero/Formula boards always get shining reviews etc
difinity Posted December 15, 2016 Posted December 15, 2016 BIOS chips should last for about 50,000 cycles but corruption and failure is quite common. I wouldn't be thinking about replacing your motherboard just yet until you've tried a replacement/reprogrammed chip. I guess it depends on how much of a rush you are to get up and running. What's the markings on the BIOS chip ? It's very possible this programmer will support it. 24 25 series EEPROM Flash BIOS USB Programmer CH341A | eBay If the rest of your hardware is good BIOS is always the first thing to try with your symptoms.
Spl1t Posted December 16, 2016 Posted December 16, 2016 Good shout there, try replacing the BIOS chip and also may try resetting the BIOS version via USB stick. I have ASUS ROG Gene IV - few years old mind you but the motherboard is fantastic; I personally would recommend ASUS ROG and it's also easy to update the BIOS firmware without much hassle.
