Trapper Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 How far afield has this downtime reached? My schools are in Moseley and its a real pain. I rely on the Internet as we have thew sites separated by almost a mile. Even with file servers and replication it is real pain! Cmis server and eportal only at one site, and the file server they UAE with VPN hasn't replicated their weekend work to the others. It seems Virgin had a powercut around 1600 yesterday which took a switch out. Nowt like high availability redundancy!!
Michael Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Or more to the point being a business service, it should be constantly monitored. You do get this kind of service without looking too hard
Trapper Posted December 12, 2016 Author Posted December 12, 2016 Back on................. it won't last. Still it has found a hole in my resilience plans - I forgot to have a secondary DHCP server ready to be switched on at one of my sites. It's OK if the drive maps change to the local fileserver based on your IP address, but pointless if you can't get an IP address!
Michael Posted December 12, 2016 Posted December 12, 2016 Why won't it last if they've replaced the switch (presumably)?
Trapper Posted December 12, 2016 Author Posted December 12, 2016 'cos it's Service Birmingham a subsidiary of Crapita with internet provided by Vogon Media.
