Koldov Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Not sure if this is the right forum (MOD please feel free to move if there is a more appropriate one). Does anybody use this in their school? Good, bad, indifferent? How does it fair against the likes of IRIS? Ease of use? Cost? Amount of equipment? Can videos only be viewed within their platform/software/app? I'd appreciate a heads up as we have a demo booked, are there any pertinent questions I should ask? For example, where storage servers are located, are the videos encrypted etc...? It apparently allows access to videos even if you are no longer using their platform, but I can't see anyone allowing videos to take up space and bandwidth that isn't being paid for!
Koldov Posted November 25, 2016 Author Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) Not too sure about them using free music from "premiummbeat.com" in their promo video! Lessonbox Mobile - Lesson Recording - Lessonbox 1m58s into the video... My word, that is a lot of kit! When we had IRIS, we could never get the teachers to even prop up an iPod occaisionally... synaesthesia Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 We use it quite succesfully. Easy enough to use although it gets set up & packed down by a member of ICT support. Couple of lessons a week usually. The kit is good quality (pc specialist laptop, brickcom cameras, very good microphones) and easy enough to use. The training was good. 1
Koldov Posted November 25, 2016 Author Posted November 25, 2016 (edited) I can't deny it does look like quality kit! Easy enough to use although it gets set up & packed down by a member of ICT support. Well, as I am the only member of ICT support... Yay me! Edited November 25, 2016 by Koldov
synaesthesia Posted November 25, 2016 Posted November 25, 2016 Joy We did make a point of saying if it's going to be more than a couple of lessons a week they need to look at training someone else up - not just for the packing away & setting up but for the exporting of the videos too which is what takes most of the time.
Koldov Posted November 25, 2016 Author Posted November 25, 2016 This is the thing! Not to bang on about it, but it doesn't get much simpler than the IRIS 'discovery' kit (and I still have to set that up). I understand there are limitations that come with that, but really iPod, stand, sign-in, go. Once you're done hit the button and it uploads, job done! It can be a little more complicated, depending on what you want to do (with 2 iPods, tracking tripod, lanyard etc.), also you are tied to their platform. But really they can't even be bothered to do that, I can count on one hand the amount of times it's been used this year...
