ITGURU Posted November 18, 2016 Posted November 18, 2016 I've clean installed/clean imaged several PCs, but opening the 'settings' icon still seems to be broken in the anniversary release. It either doesnt open, or flashes up then closes so unable to access windows update. I have just run winver on 2 of the imaged PCs, which is shown below. Both are showing different versions. I've also run systeminfo from command prompt which shows OS Build as OS Version: 10.0.14393 N/A Build 14393 Slightly confused as the higher version from WINVER has 5 installed updates, the lower version 6 updates. Any ideas? Windows 10 still seems 'broken' Apart from re-imaging again to sort the settings out, all the only guides fail to resolve the issue.
Jamoire Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 We are having the same issue on random PC's where the Settings app (and in our case the Start Menu wont open), haven't found a cure other than a rebuild yet either. The different build numbers just refer to which of the Cumulative Updates are installed. 14393.351 is the October 27th Cumulative Update (KB3197954) 14393.447 is the November 8th Cumulative Update (KB3200970)
