networking epson projectors

we are looking at networking our Epson projectors so we can monitor them.

Cabling them would take a while etc so looking at wifi dongles for the time being.

 

The Epson dongles are over £100 and allow remote presenting etc.

We don't need this function. Just monitor them.

 

So can you use a standard wifi usb dongle on a projector?

Don't know the answer to your question I'm afraid, however if they don't would popping these on the Ethernet port and plugging the power into the USB port on the projector help? TP-LINK - TL-WR702N - 150Mbps Wireless N Nano Router | CPC UK

 

I use one (well 2 really because of the silly home hub) on the BT TV box to save having to run a cat5 cable to it using Powerline adapters for BT Sport and it works fine as a client and just feeds the IP and data straight through to the Ethernet port.

I don't know your situation, but we have 95% Epson projectors here and loads of them are networked.

 

Its been my experience that although the software to monitor and control them works if projectors are left on Freeze or AV Mute it doesn't shut them down. Additionally teachers would turn them back on straight after their shutdown time if they were in the room.

 

I have found that walking the site and being the 'projector police' at the end of the school day works just as well. I have even seen staff run from one room to another to switch them off when they see me coming.

 

I'm no longer planning on networking any remaining ones.
