pete Posted November 15, 2016 Posted November 15, 2016 We recently moved from a dedicated PM registration slot to registering in Period 05. This is fine if you're years 7 > 11, but year 12 & 13 students have free periods. The current workaround is.....lacking and so we're investigating other options. We've just had a meeting with a salesperson from Biostore (we already use bits of their software for other things) to talk about IDRegister for PM registration, possibly using IDPoints (small wall-mount PoE grey boxes with fingerprint reader and keypad). If you have them, what are they like to administer/use? Specifically: How often do they fail to work? How do the kids get on with them? Roughly what's the throughput like at busy periods? As network devices do they place nicely or do silly things? How much of your (IT) time do they consume? How easy is it to apply an alternate fire register timetable for a specific group (Y11 students coming in for revision sessions)? What does whoever manages attendance think about them?
pete Posted November 18, 2016 Author Posted November 18, 2016 *bump* Anyone? From a build quality POV they look alright and I've had one reference passed on by the vendor, but....
mjk Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 All I can say about Biostore is they seem to have stopped answering calls. I'm not sure if they have gone bust, or they just don't have any engineers left ? We used to have an instant response from their helpdesk - and their engineers were very good - but now they won't answer the phone and there is no reply other than automated response. Personally I'm going to start looking elsewhere unless they can resume their previous level of service.
