Look whats happened this morning! Anyone else experienced this? The charred port on the D-Link is the second one from the top. The pen drive image isn't great, but you can make out the melted portion. It still smells!

D-Link isn't cheap. We are a purely D-Link network both switches and wireless , and their switches are more expensive than the likes of HP and Netgear.

Whenever I've had any firmware issues they remote on, test the issue, contact their Taiwan engineers and then reply with a new firmware. Thats' service!

Got some free training in London a few years back also.

We still run quite a few of the basic dlink web managed switches and the majority are OK; however anything marketed to the home or soho user by D-Link certainly is chinese style sweatshop trash.

There are only 4 screws holding it together OP, photos of the inside should reveal why it's failed.
