Youtube strict mode effectiveness

Anyone using Youtube strict mode in production? I was curious about its effectiveness. I'm trying to convince my director to open Youtube up for students, but in a limited capacity. I have it working, but would like some feedback about its ability to actually filter inappropriate content. I actually wish there was a way to force whitelist browsing on Youtube and have my staff approve videos on their own through our GSuite domain. Oh well...

We allow strict for ks4&5. Some would say it is over filtering.

 

If you're a G suite user you can do exactly that. Using DNS or HTTP headers you can enforce strict filtering for all and then allow higher levels per group in the G Suite admin panel.

 

That's what we do but videos are whitelisted by us rather than by teachers.

I have to turn ours off when the film club starts as it blocks most trailers. Its weird because I can unblock a channel but the videos are still blocked.. it only seems to unblock individual vids.

 

Staff seemed to have got used to approving videos though, but I havent seen a drop in youtube traffic.. they still use it as a babysitter.

Thanks! This is actually kind of reassuring. I would rather error on the side of being too strict with the filter.
