Office 365 for Education - desktop version included or not?

I'm getting conflicting information about whether a school subscription to MS Office 365 (for Education) allows installation of the desktop version as well as access to the cut down online versions. Initially I thought yes, but this seems to indicate no. Is this a change from previous licensing or has it always been this way?

You can get the desktop version of Office365 for education for free which is Office 365 ProPlus for Faculty. How I got ours was I added Office 365 ProPlus for Faculty and Office 365 ProPlus for Students to our Microsoft EES agreement to cover the number of users we have which was free. You then need to activate the subscriptions in VLSC and add them to your Office365 subscription. Once the subscription has been added to Office365 yo can then assign the licences to staff and students which gives them the option to install. [h=1][/h]

As @MichelleC says, you have to add the Office 365 ProPlus subscription which is free as long as you have a Microsoft EES agreement.

Thanks @MichelleC and @steve_forbes. We don't have an EES agreement so I will need to investigate this. Does the EES come at a cost?

@GrahamB Yes there is a minimum level of licence that you have to purchase through that agreement and they are based on the school's FTE. For schools that regularly upgrade their OS and Office software then it is the most economical way of licencing Microsoft products but it's not always suitable for everyone. If you need more info then just let me know and I'll get you some pricing for you to get an idea of costs.
