Daniel1 Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Hi everybody, am having a little trouble and I hope someone could help me. We have 31 macs in our Art department and a apple server. It has come to our attention that when students log into the macs with there username and password, some application don't work for example dragging photos from google into photos or saving there work, opening office word or powerpoint. However if another students logs onto the same mac all the applications work fine. The server and the macs where installed by a third party company, however they left us we a pdf documents about the server and whats on it. The server is connected to our windows server AD. I am new to macs and have been reading up on them. However I am now stuck. Any advice would very handy. Regards Daniel
IAMCloud_Curt Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 What version of Office are running? What version of Mac server are you using? Are your Macs binded to Open Directory aswell or using Profile Manager? Sorry for the interrogation, I'm just visualising your setup mate.

IAMCloud_Curt Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Will update Office straight away. You are right, Macs are running OS X El CAPITAN 10.11.4 Workgroup Manager isn't compatible with 10.11 mate, on your server do you have the Profile Manager service enabled and configured?
Daniel1 Posted November 14, 2016 Author Posted November 14, 2016 Well that would explain all the issues. I didn't relies. The school I work for uses a third party company to install all the servers including the mac server. We do have the Profile Manager service on the server, but apparently its unstable on the county network which we are connected to. Regards Daniel

cogrady84 Posted November 17, 2016 Posted November 17, 2016 Workgroup Manager isn't compatible with 10.11 mate, on your server do you have the Profile Manager service enabled and configured? I'm using WGM with 10.11, as I had stability problems with Profile Manager. Could you elaborate on which parts are incompatible? The application is no longer signed, so Pacifist is required to get around the version checks (https://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/6812/pacifist)
