1 UPS, 2 Servers.

The UPS doesn't have a network management card.

Limited budget.

I'd like the server communicating with the UPS, to issue a shutdown command, when it shuts down, to tell the second server to commence with a shutdown.

I've tried adding a remote shutdown script to gpedit local on the primary server, however it doesn't seem to trigger on a shutdown. It does however execute manually.

Is your switch on the UPS too? (Linking the servers).

Any shutdown script should work if so, but remember if it's not on a UPS it can't talk once power goes :p

What I mean though is if you're failing over to UPS, I assume your power has gone, so how are these two servers going to talk to eachother?

Agreed, if switch isn't on ups then the second server wouldn't be reachable in a power out and your config will be pointless to try and shutdown a second server if only one server has direct connection to ups.
